In the solar industry, PV wafers have to be handled fully automatically within the production process without becoming damaged. The Schmalz Wafer Gripper SWGm is used to separate wafers from the batch, position them for measuring, move them, and sort them into up to 72 different classes, depending on the measuring results. The Wafer Gripper offers maximum precision, minimum damage, contamination protection, low air consumption and slip-free handling of the wafer at acceleration rates of up to 10 g. Furthermore, the SWGm keeps the wafer at an angle of 90°, which is required for the process, and corrects the angle within fractions of a second.
